A Camping we will go, a camping we will go!

I haven't been camping in a while. I'm guessing it's been 3 years. It's something I like to do, but I guess being that I have a toddler I was opting out of not doing it due to my mind telling me it's probably going to be way more work than I wanted to tackle. I had a plethera of reasons. Or should I say excuses!

Anywhooo, a friend of mine mentioned she was going camping with her young children and my mouth piped in before my brain's rusty wheel started to groan and I said, "Hey sounds like fun, we'd love to go too!" I found myself hours later airing out the ol' tent. It's a rather nice tent, it's a Kelty. Since it was just my husband and I, we got a dome tent that sleeps 4. (we needed room for our dogs)

Sofie was without a sleeping bag, so I scurried to Tarjet and got her one that comes in a little backpack with a little waterbottle and a little flashlight. It's little. And cute. Anything pint sized is cute. Oh did I mention it was PINK!???!! I'm going to go this week and get her name embroidered on it. I think it'll be a hoot. I found myself jealous that she got a pink one, so I got a pink one too. :)) We match. I'm going to get either my initals or MOM put on mine in script. I need some fancy with my dirt and bugs. I do already have a great sleeping bag, it's rated for cooler temps like 20 degrees, but this one is rated for 40 degrees. I think the major difference is the inside of my other one has a fleece lining where this cheaper but PINK one has the same silky poly lining. It's not as nice, but it's pink. :) There's alway's suffering with sacrifice. Fashion has to count for something.

It was just us mom's camping with our little ones. It was quite the bonding experience. Sofie did really well. I need to give my peanut more credit. She did really really well. She didn't cry, whine, ball, brawl, bitch, moan, complain, scratch, bite, hit, fuss, tell me where to stick it, spit, scratch, fight, kick, well, you get the jist of the list. She just played and played and was a 'typical' toddler. I couldn't ask for anything more. If I did, she'd be boring and sit next to me with a blank look in her eyes. She's awesome. And I'm not saying that cause 'she's my kid'. She is awesome.

As you can see, she helped in the setting up chores. Here she is opening her umbrella.

Here's she's pitching up her chair and inserting the umbrella so she can have shade (she's very shade conscious).

Getting the salsa and having some laughs with good friends

And that my friends, THAT is what life is all about. If you were ever wondering the meaning of life, it's just that. Having salsa and some laughs with friends. It's easy to make life complicated. It's hard to make life just what it should be.

Bring you kid(s) camping. It's good for their (and your) mental health.

:))

PS, I have more pix of the camping here, if you're interested.

Babylegs. I saw your post on them and they ARE CUTE. I looked up on the site to where they were sold in my area and I must say, they are sold only 12.4 miles from my doorstep. So I just may have to go have a look-sy at the Babylegs. I did buy something similar to those when I was in Norway for Sofie. She has outgrown them though. In Norway, all the little children wear them and they are made only out of wool to keep them warm in the winter. Wool doens't stretch well, so they were sized. Those artic people think of everything.
